Game description:

Zero Divide is a 3D fighting game released for the PlayStation in 1995 by Zoom Inc. Set in a future where androids have inherited the war humanity started, it pits “Metal Blooded” combatants against each other on multi-level arenas — a genuine novelty for a fighting game at the time, when almost every rival in the genre kept combat locked to a single flat plane. Rather than just trading blows on one line, fighters can climb, drop, and reposition between tiers of a stage, turning verticality itself into part of the strategy.

How to Play

The goal in each match is the standard fighting-game one — deplete your opponent’s health bar before they deplete yours — but Zero Divide’s multi-level stages mean footwork matters as much as your attack strings. The default web emulator controls map the PlayStation’s D-pad to your keyboard’s arrow keys for movement and navigating between stage levels. The face buttons (Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle) correspond to Z, X, A, and S for your punches and kicks, with Enter functioning as Start.

Tips

  • Use the verticality: Dropping to a lower level or climbing to a higher one can dodge an opponent’s ground-based attacks entirely — don’t just fight on the level you started on.
  • Watch your spacing: As in most 3D fighters of this era, whiffing an attack leaves you open; get a feel for each character’s range before committing to strings.
