Game description:

Ys IV – Mask of the Sun is a classic action RPG released for the SNES in 1993 by Tonkin House. As the canonical fourth entry in the legendary Ys series, this adventure follows the red-haired swordsman Adol Christin as he travels to the vibrant land of Celceta. The game returns to the fast-paced, top-down exploration and iconic bump combat system that defined the series’ earliest adventures.

How to Play

Guide Adol through dungeons, forests, and towns, defeating monsters and upgrading your equipment to uncover the mysteries of Celceta. In your browser, use the Arrow Keys to move, Z, X, A, and S for the SNES face buttons (A, B, X, Y), Q and W for L and R, Enter for Start, and Shift for Select.

Tips

  • When using the bump combat system, always try to hit enemies slightly off-center or from the sides. Colliding head-on will cause Adol to take damage.
  • Upgrade your swords and armor frequently at towns; even a small stat boost makes a huge difference in survivability against bosses.
