X Zone is a sci-fi rail shooter released for the Super Nintendo in 1993 by Kemco. Originally designed as a showcase for the Super Scope light gun peripheral, it puts players in the cockpit of a flying power-armor suit. Your mission is to blast through four scrolling areas and destroy a sentient bio-computer that has unleashed an army of rogue robots on humanity.
How to Play
As you automatically scroll forward through enemy territory, you must shoot down incoming robots, turrets, and projectiles. Because this version is played in the browser, your mouse emulates the Super Scope peripheral. Use the mouse to aim your crosshairs, click to fire rapid shots to destroy smaller threats or intercept incoming missiles, and use secondary fire to lock on with homing missiles against larger, armored enemies.
Tips
- Pace your heavy weapons: Homing missiles take a moment to lock onto larger targets, so clear out the fast-moving smaller projectiles with rapid fire before focusing on bigger threats.
- Prioritize survival: Since incoming missiles will drain your armor quickly, always shoot them out of the air instead of just trying to race the enemies’ health bars.
