Game description:

Developed by Sculptured Software and published by LJN in 1992, WWF Super WrestleMania brought the larger-than-life world of professional wrestling to the Super Nintendo. As the first 16-bit WWF title, it laid the groundwork for the popular “tug-of-war” grappling style that defined the era’s wrestling games. Players can choose from a roster of iconic early-’90s superstars like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage, and The Undertaker, competing in one-on-one matches, tag team bouts, and traditional Survivor Series elimination matchups.

How to Play

The objective is to deplete your opponent’s stamina meter and secure a three-count pin or a submission. The SNES controls map straightforwardly in the browser: use the D-pad (arrow keys) to move around the ring, press Y (A key) to punch, B (Z key) to kick, and X (S key) to run. Pressing A (X key) initiates a grapple tie-up. Use the L and R buttons (Q and W keys) to tag in your partner or climb in and out of the ring.

Tips

  • Master the mash: Winning a grapple in this game is purely about speed. The moment you lock up with an opponent, mash the face buttons as rapidly as possible to win the “tug-of-war” and execute a slam or suplex.
  • Keep it simple: Unlike its sequels, Super WrestleMania does not feature signature finishing moves for the wrestlers. Focus on consistently landing standard grapple moves and wearing down the opponent’s health rather than looking for a specific finisher.
  • Use the environment: You can deal significant damage outside the ring, but watch the referee’s 10-count. Tossing an opponent out and brawling on the floor is a great way to gain an advantage without risking a sudden pinfall.
