Game description:

Vautour is a 1980 arcade fixed shooter that operates as a direct bootleg of the influential classic, Phoenix. Like the original, players control a ship moving horizontally across the bottom of the screen, battling waves of swooping alien birds. The gameplay is identical to Phoenix, renowned for being one of the earliest arcade games to feature a distinct final boss encounter against a massive mothership.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive multiple waves of alien enemies, culminating in a final battle against the mothership. You can move your ship left and right to dodge incoming fire and diving enemies. The arcade controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys to move, Z to fire, and X to activate your protective energy shield. Use Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start.

Tips

  • Your shield makes you invincible for a brief period, but it has a cooldown and you cannot move while it is active. Use it only when you are cornered or about to be hit by a fast-diving enemy.
  • During the final stage, you must shoot away the shielding on the mothership to expose the alien pilot in the center. Time your shots carefully to hit the core while dodging the relentless fire from the accompanying birds.
