Akumajou Dracula (Japan) (Rev 1) is the 1993 cartridge release of Konami’s legendary action-platformer for the NES (Famicom). Originally launched on the Famicom Disk System, this version allows players to step into the boots of vampire hunter Simon Belmont as he battles his way through a perilous castle filled with classic monsters to ultimately defeat Dracula.
The objective is to survive six challenging stages using your whip and various sub-weapons. Standard NES controls apply in the browser: use the arrow keys to move, crouch, or climb stairs. Press Z and X to jump and attack, and Enter for Start. To use your equipped sub-weapon, hold Up and press the attack button.
A few tips for surviving the castle: be deliberate with your jumps, as your momentum cannot be changed mid-air once you leap. Try to hold onto the Holy Water, as it is incredibly effective for stunning bosses and tougher enemies. Finally, be cautious when scrolling the screen back and forth, as defeated enemies will constantly respawn off-screen.
