Super Formula Japan (also known internationally as Tail to Nose: Great Championship) is a top-down arcade racing game released by Video System in 1989. Heavily inspired by the 1988 Formula One season, this unlicensed racer puts you behind the wheel of iconic F1-style cars across legendary circuits like Silverstone, Suzuka, and Monaco. The game stands out for its distinctive visual style where the track rotates around your vehicle, delivering a fast-paced and challenging driving experience.
How to Play
Your goal is to complete a qualifying lap to secure your starting position, followed by competitive laps where you must finish in the top six to advance to the next course. In the browser emulator, use Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start. Steer your car using the Arrow Keys, and use Z and X to accelerate and brake.
Tips
- Nail the Qualifier: Starting near the front is crucial. If you qualify poorly, you will waste valuable time trying to weave through the aggressive pack of AI racers.
- Master the Rotation: Because the track rotates around your car rather than scrolling conventionally, focus your eyes slightly ahead of your vehicle to anticipate sharp corners.
- Brake Early: At high speeds, sliding out on tight hairpins like Monaco’s will cost you the race. Let off the accelerator or tap the brake before entering sharp turns to maintain your racing line.
