Two Crude Dudes is a post-apocalyptic beat ’em up released for the Sega Genesis in 1992 by Data East. You play as one of two muscular mercenaries hired by the government to reclaim a ruined New York City from the Big Valley terrorist organization. The game stands out from other brawlers of the era thanks to its unique grabbing mechanic, which lets you pick up and throw almost anything on the screenโincluding heavy debris, abandoned cars, and the enemies themselves.
How to Play
Your objective is to fight through stages of mutant thugs, mad scientists, and bosses to dismantle the Big Valley gang. Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to move. The Sega Genesis face buttons (A, B, C, typically mapped to A, S, D or Z, X, C on your keyboard) are used to attack, jump, and grab objects or enemies. Pressing attack while holding an object will hurl it across the screen, dealing massive damage to anyone in its path.
Tips
- Throwing objects is far more effective than standard melee attacks. If there is a car, signpost, or even a stunned enemy nearby, pick them up and use them as projectiles to control crowds safely.
- Between stages, punch the vending machines to drink cola and restore your health.
- When fighting bosses, keep your distance and look for heavy environmental objects to throw; close-quarters combat will usually result in you taking heavy damage.
