Game description:

Developed by Factor 5 and released for DOS in 1991, Turrican II: The Final Fight is a sprawling run-and-gun shooter renowned for its massive, non-linear levels and intense action. You explore hostile alien environments armed with a versatile arsenal, battling waves of mechanical enemies in a fast-paced sci-fi adventure.

How to play

Your objective is to navigate the labyrinthine levels, defeat enemy forces, and survive massive boss encounters. Standard MS-DOS keyboard controls apply for movement and jumping. Tap your fire key to shoot your primary weapon, which can be upgraded into a spread shot, laser, or bouncing projectile by collecting power-ups. Holding the fire button activates a 360-degree sweep beam, allowing you to manually target enemies in any direction. You also have access to limited screen-clearing super weapons and the ability to transform into an invincible gyroscope to roll through tight spaces.

Tips

  • Your sweep beam is essential for picking off enemies behind walls or attacking from awkward angles, but remember that you are pinned in place while using it.
  • Don’t rush toward the exit. The game’s massive levels are designed for exploration and are packed with hidden blocks containing extra lives, shields, and weapon upgrades.
  • Save your gyroscope transformations for emergencies; rolling into the buzzsaw form makes you temporarily invincible and is perfect for escaping tight corners or damaging tough enemies.
