Game description:

Developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo in 1996, Tetris Attack is a fast-paced action-puzzle game for the SNES that actually has very little to do with traditional Tetris. Set in the Yoshi’s Island universe, the game challenges you to clear a constantly rising stack of colored panels, competing against CPU opponents or a second player.

How to play

Keep your stack from touching the top of the screen by swapping horizontally adjacent panels to match three or more of the same color. Matching panels clears them, dropping the ones above to potentially trigger chain reactions that drop garbage blocks onto your opponent’s screen.

shoulder buttons L, R Q, E
SELECT Shift
START Enter

Tips

  • Aim for chains: Clearing blocks simultaneously is good, but setting up blocks to fall and clear sequentially (a chain reaction) sends far more garbage to your opponent.
  • Active chaining: You don’t have to wait for blocks to fall. You can actively swap blocks into position while a clear animation is playing to manually keep your chain going.
  • Shattering garbage: When garbage blocks land on your stack, clear any normal panels touching the garbage to shatter it back into regular playable panels.
