Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters – Cowabunga Edition is a quality-of-life ROM hack for the Super Nintendo (SNES). Created by gallaux, this patch brings the 1993 fighting classic closer to modern re-releases by unlocking hidden content by default. Instead of needing to enter cheat codes, you can instantly play as the powerful boss characters Rat King and Karai in Versus mode. The hack also unlocks two hidden stages, grants access to the “hi-speed 3” setting, and allows up to 10 credits in Story Mode.
How to Play
Select your favorite character and battle through the tournament bracket. The game uses standard SNES controls, mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move and jump, Z, X, A, and S for your light and heavy attacks, and Enter to start. Each fighter has unique special moves and a devastating ultimate attack that can be unleashed when your green Mutagen meter at the bottom of the screen is fully charged.
Tips
Take advantage of the newly unlocked bosses in Versus mode; Rat King and Karai are exceptionally strong and have priority on many of their attacks. If you’re tackling Story Mode, the increased limit of 10 credits gives you plenty of room to learn the AI’s aggressive patterns and practice your special move inputs.
