Game description:

Takahashi Meijin no Bouken Jima II (released in the West as Adventure Island II) is a classic side-scrolling platformer developed by Now Production and published by Hudson Soft for the Famicom (NES) in 1991. You control Master Takahashi (Master Higgins) as he navigates vibrant islands to rescue his girlfriend. Unlike the first game, this sequel introduces an inventory system to save items between stages and features four distinct dinosaur companions, each offering unique movement abilities and attacks to help you overcome varied environments.

How to Play

Your objective is to reach the end of each stage before your vitality meter depletes, collecting fruit to keep it replenished. You can ride dinosaur friendsโ€”like the fire-breathing red camptosaurus or the swimming elasmosaurusโ€”to make traversing the hazardous islands easier.

Controls:

  • Movement: Arrow Keys (D-pad)
  • Jump: X (A Button)
  • Attack / Run: Z (B Button)
  • Start: Enter
  • Select: Shift

Tips

  • Manage your inventory: You don’t have to use your dinosaurs or weapons right away. Save your best companions for the trickier boss stages.
  • Skateboards are risky: The skateboard makes you move much faster, but you can’t stop easily. Avoid using it in platform-heavy or precise jumping sections.
  • Find hidden eggs: Jump in suspicious empty spots or shoot your weapons at blank spaces to uncover hidden eggs containing fairies, which grant temporary invincibility.
