Step into a dark cyberpunk future with Syndicate, the acclaimed 1993 tactical action game developed by Bullfrog Productions and brought to the Sega Genesis. As an executive for a ruthless megacorporation, you command a squad of up to four cybernetically enhanced agents from an isometric perspective, deploying them into rival territories to assassinate targets, rescue VIPs, and seize global dominance.
How to Play
Your objective is to complete missions across the globe to increase your corporation’s territory and wealth. You must manage your squad’s funds, research new weapons, and upgrade their cybernetic implants. Since this is a Genesis port of a PC classic, you’ll use the D-pad to move your cursor or agents. The default browser mapping uses the arrow keys for movement, while Z, X, and C map to the Genesis A, B, and C buttons for selecting agents, firing weapons, and interacting with the environment. Enter acts as the Start button to pause or access menus.
Tips
- Upgrade legs first: Prioritize researching and upgrading your agents’ legs. The increased movement speed is crucial for escaping firefights and completing timed objectives.
- Master the Persuadertron: This iconic weapon allows you to brainwash civilians, police, and even enemy agents. A large brainwashed crowd can act as a meat shield or provide you with heavily armed recruits.
- Invest in Gauss Guns: Research the Gauss Gun as soon as you can. It has exceptional range and firepower, allowing you to take down heavily armed enemy squads from a safe distance before they can react.
