Super Wonder Boy is the Japanese release of the classic side-scrolling action-platformer for the Sega Master System. Taking control of Tom-Tom, you embark on a challenging quest to rescue his girlfriend Tina. The gameplay centers around constantly moving forward, throwing stone hammers to defeat enemies, and quickly collecting fruit to keep your steadily depleting vitality meter filled. Finding an egg might yield a skateboard that lets you move faster and absorb an extra hit, or an angel that grants temporary invincibility.
How to Play
Your primary goal is to reach the end of each stage before your vitality meter runs out, collecting fruit along the way to restore it. The controls for the Sega Master System use the D-pad (mapped to arrow keys) to move and duck. Press Button 1 (Z) to attack by throwing hammers, and press Button 2 (X) to jump. Holding the attack button while moving allows you to run.
Tips
- Keep moving: Your vitality meter acts as a strict timer that constantly drains. Prioritize grabbing fruit over fighting every single enemy.
- Beware the spotted egg: While most eggs contain helpful items, a spotted egg contains a grim reaper that drains your vitality until you collect enough fruit to shake it off.
