Stargunner is a 1982 horizontally scrolling shooter developed by Telesys for the Atari 2600. As the pilot of a lone starfighter, you must defend your home planet against relentless waves of alien attackers. Enemy ships and bizarre space creatures swoop in from the right side of the screen, dropping bombs and attempting to ram your vessel. Your goal is to survive the onslaught and rack up a high score by shooting down as many invaders as possible before your fleet is destroyed.
How to Play
Control your starfighter using the Arrow Keys to move freely around the left side of the screen. Press the Spacebar to fire your laser cannon at incoming enemies. Avoid contact with the alien ships and the bombs they drop. You start with three lives, and the game ends when all your ships are destroyed.
Tips
- Stay in Motion: Never hover in one spot for too long. Keep moving up and down to make yourself a difficult target for enemy bombs.
- Control the Center: Positioning your ship near the vertical center of your movement area gives you the best angle to intercept enemies entering from the top or bottom of the screen.
