Released by Apollo, Inc. in 1982, Infiltrate is an action-platformer for the Atari 2600 that challenges you to steal documents from a heavily guarded six-story fortress. Playing as a secret agent, you must navigate a network of piston-like elevators and outwit the robot assassins patrolling the complex.
How to play
Your objective is to collect secret documents, which appear as tall, multi-colored poles at the very top or bottom of the fortress. Once you grab a document, the next one appears on the opposite floor, forcing you to constantly traverse the complex. Use the arrow keys to move and ride the elevators, and press the Spacebar to fire your laser pistol. The game supports two players on the same keyboard, with the second player using TGFH to move and A to shoot.
Tips
- Duck to survive: Pressing the down arrow allows your agent to duck under enemy fire, an essential maneuver on higher difficulty settings where enemies shoot continuously.
- Learn the elevators: Not all elevators are the same. Some travel only a single floor, while others move two floors at a time. Memorizing the faster routes is key to outrunning the assassins.
- Keep moving: Shooting an assassin only temporarily removes them; they will quickly respawn in another part of the fortress.
