In Spy Hunter, Bally Midway’s classic 1983 top-down action game for DOS, you take the wheel of the G-6155 Interceptor, an advanced sports car armed to the teeth. Driving at high speed along scrolling highways, your mission is to destroy enemy agents while avoiding civilian vehicles. What starts as a fast-paced racing game quickly turns into a frantic shooter as heavily armed enemy cars and helicopters join the chase.

How to Play

Your goal is to survive as long as possible and rack up points by destroying enemy vehicles like the Road Lord and the Switch Blade. You begin with front-mounted machine guns, but you can drive into the Weapons Van when it appears to equip special defenses like oil slicks, smoke screens, and surface-to-air missiles. Crashing or running off the road costs you a life.

Tips

• Keep an eye on the side of the road for the Weapons Van—driving into its trailer is the only way to restock your special weapons.
• Avoid shooting civilian cars; destroying them halts your score counter for a short time.
• When the road forks to water, your car will transform into a speedboat, but watch out for enemy torpedo boats!
