SD Gundam World – Gachapon Senshi – Scramble Wars is a unique hybrid of turn-based strategy and real-time arcade combat, released in 1987 for the Famicom Disk System (playable here as an NES title). As the first entry in the long-running Gachapon Senshi series, it tasks players with commanding an army of Super Deformed (SD) Gundam units across a strategic map, combining tactical planning with direct action gameplay.
How to Play
The main objective is to defeat the enemy forces or occupy their capital. On the strategic map, you move units to capture cities and colonies, which generate funds to build new mechs. When opposing units clash, the perspective shifts to a real-time 1-on-1 battle where you directly control your mech to destroy the opponent. For the browser emulator, standard NES controls apply: move your units using the Arrow Keys, use Z and X for the A and B buttons to attack and confirm actions, and press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Secure early income: Prioritize capturing cities and colonies in the first few turns to build a strong economic advantage over your opponent.
- Master the action battles: Since combat is resolved in real-time arcade battles, a weaker unit can still defeat a stronger one if you manually outmaneuver the enemy’s attacks.
