Running Battle is a side-scrolling beat ’em up released in 1991 for the Sega Master System. Developed by Opera House and published by Sega exclusively in Europe, the game puts you in the shoes of Detective Sergeant Grey as he enters the “Dark Zone” to avenge his fallen partner by taking down a crime syndicate led by the mysterious “M”.
How to Play
As a traditional brawler, you’ll move through each stage fighting waves of “Soldiers of Darkness”. You must defeat a minimum number of enemies to clear a section and progress. Using the default emulator controls, press the Arrow Keys to move, Z to attack or use a weapon, and X to jump.
Tips
Keep an eye out for power-ups that restore health or temporarily boost your attack strength. You don’t always need to defeat every single enemy on screen, so focus on managing the crowd and picking up weapons to survive the five levels.
