Developed by Sanritsu and published by Sega in 1989, Bomber Raid is a vertical-scrolling shoot ’em up for the Sega Master System. You pilot a fighter plane soaring over enemy territory, dodging rapid fire and taking down squadrons of aircraft, ground turrets, and heavily armed bosses. As the final Master System cartridge released in Japan, it delivers a tight, classic arcade experience where you can upgrade your ship with weapon spreads, speed boosts, and flanking escort pods.
How to Play
Navigate your aircraft and weave through enemy fire while shooting down hostile targets to reach and defeat each stage’s boss. The standard Sega Master System controls apply: use the D-pad to steer, Button 1 to drop cluster bombs, and Button 2 to fire your primary weapons. In the browser emulator, these are mapped to your arrow keys, with Z and X acting as your action buttons.
Tips
- Use your escorts: The companion planes you pick up significantly widen your firing range, making it much easier to clear waves of weaker enemies before they can trap you.
- Save your bombs: You have a limited supply of cluster bombs. Keep them in reserve for boss fights or moments when the screen is completely overwhelmed with enemy projectiles.
