Rally-X is a fast-paced maze and driving game released for the Arcade in 1980 by Midway (originally developed by Namco). You navigate a blue race car through a scrolling, multi-directional labyrinth, aiming to collect ten yellow flags in each stage before your fuel runs out.
How to Play
Use the arrow keys to steer your car through the maze. Press the action button (Z or X) to deploy a smokescreen, which temporarily stalls any enemy red cars that drive into it. Using your smokescreen consumes a portion of your limited fuel, so be careful. Clear the stage by collecting all ten flags. You will lose a life if you collide with an enemy car, crash into a rock, or run out of fuel. Press Shift to insert coins and Enter to start the game.
Tips
- Keep an eye on the radar on the right side of the screen; it displays the positions of the remaining flags and enemy cars.
- Try to grab the “Special Flag” (marked with an “S”) as early as possible. It doubles the point value of all remaining flags in the stage.
- Use your smokescreen sparingly to avoid depleting your fuel meter too rapidly.
