Developed by Activision for the Atari 2600 in 1983, Private Eye is an action-driving game that puts you in the shoes of Pierre, a hard-boiled detective. You must navigate a sprawling city to locate stolen items, track down the criminals responsible, and return the evidence to headquarters before the time limit expires.
How to play
Your objective is to find the specific stolen item for your assigned case, locate the thief, and bring both back to the starting point before time runs out. Your custom car can jump over obstacles and shoot thugs to clear the way.
- Move / Jump / Duck: Arrow keys
- Shoot: Spacebar
- Select Case: F11
- Start / Reset: F12
Tips
- Pay attention to the city's layout. Memorizing the streets is crucial since later cases have very tight time limits.
- You can only carry one item at a time. If you find the stolen goods or the criminal early, you'll need to decide the fastest route back to headquarters.
- Some obstacles will require you to use your turbo or time your jumps perfectly to avoid losing a life and precious time.
