Developed by Gainax in 1993, Princess Maker 2 is a unique blend of life simulation and RPG for DOS. You take on the role of a war hero who adopts an orphaned girl, tasked with raising her from age 10 to 18. Her ultimate future and personality depend entirely on the schedule you set for her, balancing part-time jobs, education, rest, and RPG-style adventuring.
How to play
Your goal is to guide your daughter’s upbringing over eight in-game years, adjusting her monthly schedule to build her stats and manage her stress. The game is controlled using standard keyboard input, just as it was under MS-DOS. Navigate the menus to assign her classes, jobs, or send her on “Errantry” to explore dungeons and fight monsters. Press Right Alt + Enter to toggle full screen.
Tips
- Manage stress carefully: If your daughter’s stress exceeds her stamina, she will fall ill and be unable to perform tasks. Schedule regular free time or vacations to keep her healthy.
- Start with simple jobs: Early on, classes are too expensive. Focus on easy part-time jobs like babysitting or housework to build up a starting fund and basic stats.
- Equip before adventuring: Before sending her out on Errantry, make sure you have purchased weapons and armor from the town, as she starts with no combat gear.
