Paperboy is a classic arcade action game developed by Atari Games and brought to the Sega Genesis. Originally released in 1984, the game puts you in the role of a paperboy navigating a hazardous suburban neighborhood on a bicycle. Your daily route requires you to deliver the Daily Sun newspaper to your loyal subscribers while dodging an increasingly bizarre array of obstacles, from runaway tires and aggressive dogs to breakdancers and the Grim Reaper.
How to play
Your objective is to successfully deliver papers to every subscriber on your route over a full week. Miss a delivery or damage their property, and they will cancel their subscription. You steer your bicycle and adjust your speed using the directional buttons (mapped to the Arrow Keys). Press any of the action buttons (A, B, or C, mapped to S, X, and Z on your keyboard) to throw a newspaper.
Tips
- Aim for the mailbox: Landing a paper directly inside a subscriber’s mailbox awards more points than just tossing it onto their porch.
- Target non-subscribers: You can earn extra points by throwing papers at the windows and lawn ornaments of houses that don’t subscribe to the paper. Just be careful not to accidentally vandalize a subscriber’s house!
- Collect bundles: Keep an eye out for newspaper bundles lying on the street or sidewalks. Running over them refills your limited supply of papers.
