Ninja Jajamaru-kun is a classic action-platformer developed by Jaleco for the NES in 1985. As the red ninja Jajamaru, your mission is to rescue Princess Sakura from the villainous Lord Namazu. The game unfolds across multi-tiered stages where you must hunt down and defeat eight yōkai enemies to clear the level, blending fast-paced combat with classic arcade-style platforming.
How to play
To advance to the next level, you must defeat all eight enemies on the screen. Instead of jumping up through solid floors, Jajamaru must break the brick ceilings with his head to create paths to higher levels or drop down to lower ones. Move using the arrow keys, press Z to throw your shurikens, and press X to jump. Use Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Break bricks frequently, as they often contain helpful power-ups like speed boosts or a cart that grants temporary invincibility. Watch out for bombs that might drop instead!
- If you collect three different power-up items, you will summon the giant frog, Gamapakun. Riding the frog makes you invincible and allows you to eat enemies for massive points.
- Enemies spawn from the top of the stage and work their way down. Try to stay on the middle or lower tiers to pick them off as they descend.
