Nigel Mansell’s World Championship Racing is a 1993 Formula One racing simulator for the SNES that lets you step into the cockpit of the iconic Williams-Renault during the 1992 F1 season. You can compete in a full championship or single races against a grid of legendary drivers on accurately recreated international circuits. The game challenges you to manage your speed, pit stops, and car setup while battling for the checkered flag in a smooth, fast-paced racing environment.
How to Play
The objective is to qualify for a strong grid position, manage your car throughout the race, and finish in first place. Before hitting the track, you can adjust your car’s gear ratios, aerodynamics, and tires to suit the circuit and weather conditions.
Default SNES controls:
- D-Pad: Steer your car
- B: Accelerate
- Y: Brake
- L / R: Shift gears (in manual mode)
- Start: Pause the game
(In your browser, the SNES D-pad maps to the arrow keys. A/B/X/Y map to X, Z, S, and A. Start and Select map to Enter and Shift.)
Tips
- Mind the Weather: Pay attention to the weather forecast before the race. Equipping wet tires is crucial if rain is expected, as slicks will cause you to lose all grip on a wet track.
- Use the Slipstream: Tuck in behind rival cars on long straights to reduce aerodynamic drag, giving you a top-speed boost to execute a clean overtake.
- Smooth Steering: Avoid jerky movements on the D-pad, especially at high speeds, to maintain your racing line and prevent costly spin-outs.
