Game description:

Next Fase is an unlicenced arcade bootleg of the classic 1980 shoot ’em up Phoenix. Like the original, this fixed shooter challenges you to defend your ship against increasingly aggressive flocks of alien birds across five distinct stages. It retains the same core mechanics, including the iconic boss battle against a massive mothership, making it a piece of arcade history preserved for modern browsers.

How to Play

Your objective is to survive all five waves of enemies, concluding with the destruction of the alien mothership, before the cycle loops at a higher difficulty. You can move your ship left and right across the bottom of the screen to dodge incoming fire and diving enemies. Use the arrow keys for movement, press Z or Ctrl to fire, and use X or Alt to activate your shield. Use Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start.

Tips

  • Use the shield defensively: Your energy shield lasts for about three seconds but has a cooldown. Only use it when you cannot dodge a diving bird or projectile.
  • Clear the bottom first: In the earlier waves, prioritize taking out the enemies that dive lowest, as they pose the most immediate threat to your ship.
  • Chip away at the mothership: During the final wave, carefully blast through the rotating shield segments of the mothership to create an opening, then aim directly for the alien pilot in the center.
