Game description:

Mortal Kombat Trilogy on the Nintendo 64 brings the ultimate 2D fighting experience from the mid-90s straight to your browser. Released in 1997 by Midway, this massive compilation gathers nearly every character and stage from the first three Mortal Kombat games into one brutal package. It retains the aggressive, combo-focused gameplay the series is famous for, complete with a staggering roster of iconic kombatants fighting for the fate of Earthrealm.

How to Play

The goal is to deplete your opponent’s health bar in best-of-three matches before finishing them off with a spectacular Fatality, Animality, or Brutality. To navigate the menus and fight, the browser’s N64 emulator uses the Arrow keys for movement and jumping. Your high and low punches, kicks, block, and run commands are handled by the Z, X, A, S, Q, and W keys. Press Enter to pause or begin a match.

Tips

  • The Nintendo 64 version features an exclusive secret character, Khameleon. Her move set rapidly cycles between the special attacks of Kitana, Mileena, and Jade, making her unpredictable but requiring you to adapt your playstyle on the fly.
  • Aggression pays off. Landing hits and blocking attacks fills the “Aggressor” bar at the bottom of the screen. Once full, your character will temporarily move faster and deal extra damage, giving you a crucial window to overwhelm your opponent.
  • The AI in this era of Mortal Kombat is notoriously punishing. Master your character’s basic uppercuts and sweeps to keep the computer at a distance, and lean heavily on the dedicated block button.
