Game description:

Mortal Kombat II – Kyuukyoku Shinken (Japan) is the 1994 Super Famicom (SNES) release of Midway’s legendary 2D arcade fighting game. Continuing the brutal martial arts tournament, it expands the roster with iconic new characters like Baraka, Kung Lao, and Shao Kahn while refining the combo system and introducing new finishing moves, including Babalities and Friendships.

How to Play

The objective is to defeat your opponents in one-on-one combat to survive the Outworld tournament. The default SNES controls are the D-pad for movement, A/B/X/Y for high and low attacks, L/R for blocking, and Start/Select. In the browser, these are mapped to the arrow keys + Z/X/S/A + Q/W + Enter/Shift.

Tips

  • Uppercuts (Down + High Punch) are excellent anti-air attacks and deal massive damage against leaping opponents.
  • The AI often falls for jump kicks followed immediately by a leg sweep (Back + Low Kick) as they stand up.
  • To execute a Fatality, you must be positioned at the correct distance (close, sweeping, or far) during the “Finish Him/Her” sequence.
