Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is an action-adventure game released for the Nintendo 64 in 2000. Based on the hit 1990s television series, players take control of the titular demigod as he battles mythological creatures, solves environmental puzzles, and attempts to stop his evil half-brother Ares from plunging the world into chaos. Developed by Player 1, the game features a mix of beat-’em-up combat and exploration across familiar locations from the show.
How to play
Your primary objective is to complete quests given by various characters and defeat enemies using your superhuman strength. Combat involves a mix of light and heavy attacks, as well as lifting and throwing objects in the environment. The Nintendo 64 controls use the analog stick for movement, the A and B buttons for attacking and interacting, and the C-buttons for camera control and managing inventory. In the browser emulator, these are mapped to the arrow keys, Z/X for main actions, and ASDW for the C-buttons.
Tips
- Use your environment to your advantage. Throwing boulders and other large objects is often more effective than standard melee attacks against tougher mythological enemies.
- Pay attention to the camera angles during exploration and platforming sections; adjusting the view manually can prevent unnecessary falls.
