Game description:

Mortal Kombat is the landmark 1993 fighting game developed by Midway Games for the SNES. Known for its digitized actors and brutal finishing moves, it defined the 16-bit arcade fighting experience. Players choose from seven unique martial artists, including ninjas, movie stars, and special forces, to compete in a deadly tournament.

How to play

The goal is to defeat your opponent in a best-of-three match by depleting their health bar. Unlike other fighting games, blocking requires holding a dedicated button rather than simply moving backwards. Use the direction keys to move, jump, and crouch, while the action buttons deliver high and low punches, high and low kicks, and blocks.

Tips

  • Holding block (Q or E) is essential, as standard movement will not protect you from attacks.
  • The uppercut (down + high punch) is your most powerful basic attack and serves as an excellent anti-air counter against jumping opponents.
  • Use the sweep kick (back + low kick) to safely knock down advancing opponents and control the distance.
