Mortal Kombat – Red Blood and Easy Moves is a fan-made ROM hack of Midway’s 1993 SNES fighting game Mortal Kombat, released by Docrow in May 2018. The Super Nintendo version of the original game famously replaced its arcade blood with grey “sweat” to satisfy Nintendo’s content policies of the era; this hack restores the red blood the SNES release never shipped with. It also simplifies the button-and-direction sequences for most fighters’ special moves, so newcomers can pull off Scorpion’s spear, Sub-Zero’s freeze, and the rest without memorizing the original arcade-accurate inputs. Sub-Zero’s slide and Sonya’s leg grab are deliberately left with their original commands.
How to play
The core game is untouched: win a best-of-three match by draining your opponent’s health bar before time runs out. Movement, blocking, and basic punches and kicks work exactly as in the original SNES release; only the special-move inputs have been made easier to execute (aside from Sub-Zero’s slide and Sonya’s leg grab, which keep their standard commands).

Tips
- Holding block (Q or E) is essential â simply stepping back will not stop an incoming attack.
- Since most special moves are simplified here, experiment with each fighter’s inputs early; you may find combos land easier than you remember from the arcade original.
- Sub-Zero’s slide and Sonya’s leg grab still use their original, unshortened commands, so practice those two separately from the rest of the cast.
