Metro-Cross is a high-speed futuristic obstacle course game originally developed by Namco for arcades and ported to the NES in 1986. You play as a contestant on a deadly television game show, sprinting through a series of long corridors while dodging hazards before the strict time limit expires. You must weave through narrow paths, avoid giant green bouncy tires, and leap over hurdles to survive each round.
How to Play
The objective is simply to reach the finish line of each stage before the timer runs out. Use the D-Pad (mapped to the Arrow Keys) to steer your character around obstacles, and press A or B (mapped to Z or X) to jump over hurdles and gaps. Hitting obstacles will either knock you flat or drastically slow your momentum, making time your biggest enemy.
Tips
- Keep an eye out for skateboardsโhopping on one grants you a significant speed boost and absorbs the impact of the next obstacle you hit.
- Kick the blue cans scattered around the track. They will temporarily stop the countdown timer, giving you precious extra seconds to reach the goal.
- Use the springboards to leap over large clusters of hazards or long sections of slow-down panels.
