Metro-Cross is a fast-paced obstacle course racing game released by Namco for the arcade in 1985. You play as a runner trying to reach the end of 32 futuristic corridors before the strict time limit expires. The game requires careful memorization of each stage layout rather than just pure reflexes, as you must weave through hazards and collect items to maintain your top speed.
How to Play
The objective is to cross the finish line before the timer reaches zero. Every fourth round is a special stage that carries over your remaining time from the previous three, making time management critical. Use the arrow keys to move your runner and dodge obstacles, and press Z or X to jump over hurdles, rolling cans, and pitfalls.
Tips
- Stop the clock: If you jump and land directly on top of the small blue cans, the stage timer will pause briefly.
- Ride the skateboard: Skateboards are invaluable for crossing green Slip Zones without being slowed down, but remember that you cannot jump while riding one.
- Shake off mice: If a mouse latches onto your runner and slows you down, rapidly tap the jump button or deliberately trip to shake it off.
