Metro-Cross is a 1985 action platformer developed by Namco for the NES. Originally an arcade release, the game challenges you to sprint through futuristic corridors against a strict time limit, dodging hazards and keeping your momentum to reach the goal before the clock runs out.
How to play
The objective is to guide the Runner to the end of each stage within the time limit. Move with the D-pad (mapped to arrow keys) and jump with A (X). To save time, jump on cans for bonus points or time stops, and ride skateboards for a temporary speed boost. Avoid green tiles and hurdles, which will slow you down or knock you flat.
Tips
- Prioritize grabbing skateboards; they make you immune to slowing obstacles and drastically increase your speed.
- Look out for blue cansโstepping on them temporarily stops the timer, giving you a vital buffer on later, tighter stages.
- You can safely run into most obstacles without dying, but the time penalty from being stunned or slowed down will often cost you the run.
