Game description:

Metal Fighter is an unlicensed side-scrolling shoot ’em up released for the NES in 1989 by Color Dreams. Players take control of an agile flying mech to battle through waves of robotic enemies and heavily armed bases. It stands out among unlicensed titles for its fast-paced arcade action and its weapon upgrade system, allowing you to swap between different fire modes to suit the current enemy formations.

How to Play

The objective is to survive each stage by dodging enemy fire and destroying the boss at the end of the level. The default NES controls are mapped to your keyboard in the browser. Use the arrow keys to pilot your mech in eight directions. Press Z (the A button) to fire your main weapon and X (the B button) to use special weapons if equipped. Press Enter (Start) to pause the action.

Tips

  • Prioritize picking up weapon power-ups; the default gun is quite weak against later enemy types, so maintaining an upgraded weapon is crucial for survival.
  • Keep moving to avoid being cornered by incoming fire, as enemy projectiles can quickly crowd the screen.
