Released for the SNES in 1996, Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow is an action-platformer where players guide an adventurous alter-ego of Donald Duck through a tropical island mystery. You begin the game exploring levels with a bug-shooting pistol, but soon unlock the ability to transform into Cold Shadowโan agile ninja armed with a bo staff used for both combat and unique traversal.
How to Play
Your objective is to find the missing island idol and collect Luau Loot across various themed stages. You will need to switch between the pistol-wielding Maui and the melee-focused Cold Shadow to overcome different obstacles. In the browser, the standard SNES controls apply: use the arrow keys to move, Z and X to jump and attack, and Enter or Shift for Start and Select.
Tips
- Master Cold Shadow’s bo staff early on; you can use it to climb narrow vertical gaps by wedging it between walls.
- Yin-Yang tokens are essential for maintaining your ninja form. Collect as many as you can, as taking damage will deplete your current tokens and revert you back to a regular detective.
