Game description:

Masters of Combat is a 1993 2D fighting game developed by SIMS for the Sega Master System. As one of the few native one-on-one fighters on the 8-bit console, it pushes the hardware to deliver fast-paced martial arts action. Players choose from a compact roster of four unique combatantsโ€”the speedy ninja Hayate, the electric Highvoltman, the long-reaching Wingberger, and the powerhouse Gonzalesโ€”to fight their way to a final showdown against an alien boss.

How to Play

Your objective is to defeat your opponent by depleting their health bar over two out of three rounds. To control your fighter in the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move, jump, and crouch. The Master System’s Button 1 and Button 2 are mapped to Z and X for attacking, while Enter acts as the Start button. You can block incoming attacks by holding back on the directional pad away from your opponent.

Tips

  • Special moves are executed through standard fighting game directional inputs (like quarter-circles) combined with an attack button. Experiment with each character to discover their unique moveset.
  • If you select the “Extra” difficulty setting, you can unlock and play as the game’s final alien boss.
  • Use Wingberger if you prefer a defensive playstyle; his telescopic limbs give him an excellent range advantage over close-combat fighters like Gonzales.
