Mars is a 1981 arcade shooter from Artic Electronics, built in the mold of Konami’s Scramble, released the same year. You pilot a sputnik-shaped spacecraft across a horizontally scrolling alien landscape, machine-gunning your way through enemies and terrain in eight directions.
How to Play
Move your ship with the arrow keys, which steer it freely in all eight directions. There’s no separate fire button — the ship’s cannon fires automatically as you move, so success comes down to positioning yourself against the incoming landscape and enemies rather than timing individual shots. The original cabinet supported two players taking turns.
