Game description:

Madden NFL ’95 is a classic American football game released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) by Electronic Arts. This installment is notable for being the first in the Madden franchise to remove passing windows, requiring players to instead scan the open field and press the button corresponding to their intended receiver. It also introduces the two-point conversion and features full NFL and NFLPA licenses, allowing you to play with real teams and player rosters from the 1994 season.

How to Play

Take command of your favorite NFL team through a full season, the playoffs, or a quick exhibition match. On the SNES, use the D-pad to move your players and navigate the playbooks. On offense, the buttons are used to snap the ball, pass to specific receivers, or perform spin moves and hurdles while running. On defense, switch control to the player closest to the ball and execute diving tackles. In the browser, the standard SNES controls (D-pad, A, B, X, Y, L, R, Start, Select) are mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys along with Z, X, A, S, Q, W, Enter, and Shift.

Tips

  • Without the passing windows of previous games, it is crucial to read the defensive coverage before the snap so you know where your primary receivers will run.
  • Take advantage of the speed burst to break away from defenders, but use it carefully to avoid running out of stamina before reaching the end zone.
  • In close matchups, consider utilizing the newly added two-point conversion rather than settling for an extra point kick.
