Developed by Nintendo and released for the NES in 1985, Mach Rider is a post-apocalyptic vehicular combat racing game. Players control a lone survivor riding a heavily armed motorcycle across devastated highways, dodging obstacles and destroying enemy Quadrunners to reach the next settlement. The game is notable for its fast-paced action and includes a Design Mode that allows players to construct their own custom tracks.
How to Play
Your goal is to survive each hazardous sector and reach the finish line. Avoid oil slicks, water puddles, and debris while fending off enemies that attempt to ram you off the road. Steer the motorcycle using the left and right arrow keys. Accelerate with the X key (A button) and fire your machine gun with the Z key (B button). You can shift through the four gears using the up and down arrow keys. Enter and Shift act as the Start and Select buttons.
Tips
Keep an eye on your rearview mirror to anticipate enemies approaching from behind. Instead of solely relying on your machine gun, use your vehicle to ram opponents into roadside hazards for quick takedowns. Mastering the manual transmission is vital; dropping to a lower gear before sharp turns will prevent you from sliding into barrels or rocks.
