Game description:

Kobe Bryant’s NBA Courtside is a classic 5-on-5 basketball simulation game released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Developed by Left Field Productions and published by Nintendo, it was widely praised for its smooth 3D graphics and realistic animations, which were motion-captured from Kobe Bryant himself. The game features full rosters from the 1997-98 NBA season and offers pre-season, full season, and playoff modes.

How to Play

The objective is to outscore the opposing team in traditional NBA action. Use the N64’s analog stick (mapped to your arrow keys) to move your players. On offense, press A (Z key) to pass, B (X key) to shoot, and the Z trigger to activate a turbo boost. On defense, use A to switch to the player closest to the ball, and B to attempt a steal or block a shot. The C-buttons allow you to perform specific moves like icon passing or pump fakes.

Tips

  • Master the Turbo: Use your turbo boost strategically when driving to the basket or recovering on defense, but manage it carefully to maintain your players’ stamina.
  • Timing Your Shots: To maximize your shooting percentage, make sure to release the shoot button at the exact peak of your player’s jump.
  • Use Icon Passing: Rely on the C-buttons for icon passing instead of directional passing to avoid easy turnovers in crowded areas of the court.
