Kickle Cubicle is a 1988 action-puzzle game developed by Irem for the NES. You control Kickle as he sets out to save the Fantasy Kingdom from the Wicked Wizard King by freezing enemies into ice blocks. These blocks become your primary tool, allowing you to kick them across the screen to defeat foes or drop them into water to build bridges across hazards.
How to Play
Your objective in each single-screen stage is to collect all the Dream Bags to rescue the kingdom’s inhabitants. Use the arrow keys to move Kickle. Press X to use your freezing breath on enemies or to kick an existing ice block, and press Z to instantly spawn a pillar of ice in front of you. Enter is used for Start, and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Kicking an ice block into water creates a permanent bridge, but enemies turned into ice will eventually thaw if left alone.
- The ice pillar created with the Z key is a perfect defensive tool to block fast-moving enemies or stop a sliding block from falling into the water.
- Pay attention to the direction enemies are facing before you freeze them, as some enemies can deflect your breath attack if approached from the front.
