Game description:

Karateka is a classic 1985 martial arts action game for the NES, originally created by Jordan Mechner. You take on the role of a determined karate master who must fight his way deep into a heavily guarded fortress to rescue Princess Mariko from the evil warlord Akuma.

To succeed, you must defeat Akuma’s guards in one-on-one combat, carefully managing your health and choosing the right combination of high, middle, and low strikes. In your browser, the default NES controls are mapped to the Arrow Keys for movement and stance, Z and X for punching and kicking, and Enter for Start.

Always remember to drop your fighting stance to run forward and save time, but snap back into it immediately before an enemy gets close. Additionally, bowing to your opponent before a match shows respect and ensures the fight begins properly without a sudden ambush.
