James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod is a classic side-scrolling platformer released in 1991. Developed by Vectordean and Millennium Interactive, this Sega Master System adventure follows the heroic mudskipper James Pond. Equipped with a robotic suit, Pond travels to the North Pole to infiltrate Santa’s toy factory, rescue captive penguins, and thwart the evil Dr. Maybe’s plans.
How to Play
Your objective is to navigate each toy-themed level, finding and rescuing all the captive penguins to reveal the exit. Pond’s robotic suit allows him to stretch his torso vertically to reach high platforms and grab ceilings. Use the D-pad (mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys) to move and duck, press A (Z key) to stretch or interact with items, and press B (X key) to jump. Defeat enemies by stomping on them from above.
Tips
- Stretch often: Use Pond’s ability to stretch and grab the ceiling to bypass dangerous floor traps or enemies entirely.
- Find the hidden warps: The toy factory’s main hub has several hidden areas and secret doors that can let you skip ahead to later worlds.
- Use items as weapons: Many items scattered around the levels can be picked up and thrown at enemies to safely clear your path.
