Game description:

Hyper Olympics in Nagano 64 (Japan) is a winter sports simulation game released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Developed by Konami, it serves as the Japanese version of Nagano Winter Olympics ’98, bringing a variety of winter athletic events to the console. Players can compete in disciplines such as alpine skiing, snowboarding, speed skating, and bobsleigh, testing their reflexes and timing across different winter sports.

How to Play

The objective is to master the unique mechanics of each winter sport to achieve the fastest times or highest scores and win gold medals. For the Nintendo 64, the default controls use the D-pad or analog stick for movement and steering, while the A and B buttons are used for accelerating, jumping, or performing actions depending on the event. In the browser emulator, these are mapped to your keyboard’s arrow keys for movement, with Z and X acting as the A and B buttons, and Enter for Start.

Tips

  • Master the Start: In racing events like speed skating and bobsleigh, a perfectly timed start is crucial for setting a fast pace and maintaining momentum.
  • Learn the Rhythm: Many events require rhythmic button pressing rather than rapid mashing; pay close attention to the athlete’s movement to optimize your speed.
