Game description:

Home Alone is an action game released for the NES in 1991, putting you in the shoes of Kevin McCallister as he defends his house from the Wet Bandits. Rather than a standard platformer, it plays as a tense evasion game where you must survive for 20 real-time minutes until the police arrive.

The objective is to avoid Harry and Marv until the 20-minute timer runs out. You navigate the house, picking up various household items to drop as traps that temporarily stun the burglars. As an NES game, you move with the D-pad, jump or interact with A, and use items with B. In the browser, the D-pad is mapped to your arrow keys, with Z for B and X for A.

The burglars will progressively move faster as the timer counts down, so save your most effective traps for the final minutes. Staircases are excellent choke points. Dropping a trap at the top or bottom of a staircase forces the bandits to walk into it if they are following you. Finally, keep moving. Hiding in one spot is rarely effective since the bandits will eventually track your location.
