Game description:

GP-1 is a motorcycle racing game developed by Genki and published by Atlus for the SNES in 1993. Using the console’s Mode 7 scaling to simulate high-speed track racing, players compete in a full Grand Prix season to earn points and purchase upgrades for their motorcycle’s engine, frame, and suspension. The game also features a split-screen mode for head-to-head multiplayer.

How to play

Navigate the tracks while avoiding collisions with rival racers to maintain your speed. In season mode, you must invest your race winnings into performance upgrades between events to remain competitive against increasingly difficult opponents.

Tips

  • Upgrade priority: Focus on engine upgrades early in the season to ensure a high top speed, as the early tracks have fewer demanding corners.
  • Smooth cornering: Brake just before entering sharp turns rather than while turning to avoid losing traction and momentum.
