Moeru! Oniisan is a 1989 action platformer for the Famicom, published by Toho and based on the anime and manga series of the same name. Recognized internationally as the game that was heavily altered to become Circus Caper, this original Japanese release features vastly different levels, mountain landscapes, and anime-inspired enemies rather than carnival themes. You play as Kenichi Kokuhou and other characters from the series depending on the stage, fighting bizarre creatures using speech bubbles as weapons.
How to play
Navigate through side-scrolling stages, defeat enemies, and overcome platforming challenges to progress. For default browser play, use the Arrow Keys to move, Z to jump, and X to attack. Enter serves as the Start button and Shift as Select.
Tips
- Beware the dice game: The game opens with a dice minigame that you must win to proceed. Unlike the English version, it is possible to lose this and get an immediate Game Over before level one.
- RPG final boss: The final battle against Dra Gon suddenly shifts from standard platforming into a turn-based RPG combat system, so be prepared for a completely different style of play at the very end.
