Gear Works is a mechanical puzzle game released for the Game Boy. The game tasks you with connecting a series of gears to repair iconic clocks in various world monuments before the time runs out.
How to Play
The objective is to connect two fixed, spinning cogs on a grid using your own supply of differently sized gears. You must complete the mechanical link before the clock’s engine overheats or time expires. Along the way, you have to watch out for “Poffins”โsmall creatures that roam the board and attempt to remove your pegs. To play in your browser, use the arrow keys (D-pad) to move your cursor, the Z key (A button) to place a peg or gear, and the Enter key (Start) to pause or confirm selections.
Tips
- Watch the rotation: Pay close attention to the direction each gear turns. Placing a gear that clashes with the rotation of an adjacent gear will cause it to break.
- Plan your layout: Start by mapping out a rough path between the two main cogs. Leave enough open space for larger gears, which cover more ground but are harder to fit into tight spaces.
